CEO Top of Mind
Marc Purcell, what is at the top of your mind this week?
This week, the Senate Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade References Committee tabled their report on the efficacy of the DFAT due diligence framework. Unfortunately, the report’s recommendations have been split down party lines, with Labor senators failing to support recommendations 1-3. ACFID will consult with its Myanmar Community of Practice and the Myanmar Campaign Network on further discussions with the government to achieve a more reasonable government response to the Committee’s report.

On 5 December AP4D was delighted to reconnect with more than 20 Timorese civil society organisation (CSO) representatives at an event hosted by The Asia Foundation in Dili. Grant Wyeth gave an update on a recent AP4D paper looking at how Australia and Timor-Leste can shape a shared future that the CSO representatives contributed to, particularly the reception it has received among Australian policymakers. Also in attendance were staff from the Australian Embassy in Dili, other working group contributors and representatives from the Australian Civil-Military Centre. Explore the paper here.Â
