The Weekly

For the past two weeks, our sector has been working to understand the massive impacts of the various decisions by the US government to pause all funding from USAID. It has been a confusing time with multiple amendments or changes to the decision since it was first announced. Some of our members have already received Stop Work Orders and others are expecting them to come. The heartbreaking impact of these decisions on the most vulnerable communities around the world is still rippling out and we have heard some tragic examples over the past few days.

Many of you joined our meeting on Tuesday to share the immediate impacts and discuss the ways ACFID can support the sector. Since that meeting, we have sent all members a survey to help bring more clarity about the impact and to better inform our response (please send the survey back by COB Today). We have also been in dialogue with DFAT about options and further coordinating information and plans with other peak bodies in the region and around the world.

We will have another call with our members on Monday afternoon from 3:30-4:30 pm on Zoom to provide space for members to share and to update you on work being done by ACFID with DFAT and other stakeholders. To note this meeting is for CEOs and/or their delegate. For any queries about joining this meeting, please contact Aditri at [email protected]

In addition, this week ACFID has launched a set of directories aimed at strengthening connections across our sector. These directories provide members with a dedicated space to share opportunities, access expertise, and engage more effectively. Covering jobs, events, training, and consultants, these directories are available to members at no cost. More details can be found in the section below.
