Community and social outreach

As a part of St John of God Health Care we have a commitment to providing care and relief for people experience disadvantage throughout Australia, New Zealand and the Asia Pacific region, particularly in areas where we have identified gaps in current service provisions.

We provide support through our Social Outreach programs.

In our local community, we operate Casa Venegas, an outreach service people with enduring mental health problems who are experiencing homelessness, as well as partnering with Waminda to support Aboriginal women.

Casa Venegas

Casa Venegas provides medium term accommodation to people with enduring mental health issues in western and inner Sydney.

People with mental health issues are one of the most disadvantage groups in society and make up a big part of our homeless population.

Our service helps people with enduring mental health issues who are homeless transition to independent living through a recovery based framework approach.

Waminda

We partner with Waminda, a community-based Aboriginal organisation, to fund women’s gatherings in Nowra and participate in cultural exchanges.

Waminda provides a range of health care and wellbeing support programs to Aboriginal women and their families living along the south coast of New South Wales.
