The Weekly

Matthew Maury, what is at the top of your mind this week?

Last week, it was great to be at a couple of events with ACFID members and their staff who are based in Brisbane (see the photo below). We will be in Adelaide and Melbourne in July – and at these meetings will be sharing about the new ACFID strategic plan.  Watch for registration information in coming weeks.

If you are interested in participating in ACFID’s Parliamentary Showcase, which will be held on October 12th, please complete the application form by 30 June. This is a follow-on event from our Strategic Delivery Partners report launch at Parliament House earlier this year and a great opportunity to showcase your agencies work. Please contact Naomi if you have any questions.

This week, ACFID is continuing engagement with members and partners across a range of sector priorities. Today, I will be joining the webinar Advancing Disability-Inclusive and Gender-Responsive Finance”, bringing together partners from Australia and Indonesia to discuss practical approaches to strengthening financial inclusion for women and people with disabilities.

On Friday, ACFID will host a briefing with the Deputy Head of Mission-designate to Fiji, providing members with an opportunity to discuss Australia’s development priorities and share insights from organisations working across the Pacific. If you have any quries, reach out to Ujjwal at [email protected].

The 2026 ACFID Statistical Survey is also now open. The survey is one of the most important tools we have for understanding and demonstrating the collective impact of our sector. We encourage CEOs and survey contacts to participate and help strengthen the evidence base that underpins ACFID’s advocacy and engagement.

Finally, members are encouraged to check out the newly refreshed ACFID Communities Platform. The updated platform includes a range of improvements, and we encourage members to update their profiles, connect with colleagues, and engage with Communities of Practice across the network.

We are keen to make the survey process as straightforward and manageable as possible, so please feel free to contact Aditri at [email protected] at any stage if you have questions or encounter any issues while completing your submission. Thank you in advance for your time and contribution to this important survey!

Consultancy Opportunity: DFAT Accreditation and ACFID Code Mapping Update

ACFID is seeking a consultant to review and update the existing mapping of the DFAT Accreditation and ACFID Code requirements.  This short-term opportunity will help organisations identify alignment between ANCP requirements and the ACFID Code of Conduct, contributing to more effective, streamlined reporting for the sector. We’d love your help to spread the word – please share with your networks and any consultants with experience, particularly those that may have supported your organisation with DFAT Accreditation.

Applications close Wednesday 24 June. Read the full Terms of Reference.

Impacts of Middle East conflict on ANGOs and local partners

As part of ACFID’s advocacy and response to the Middle East conflict, we are requesting insights (whether case studies, stories, general impacts) from members. These examples will be used to produce media and advocacy products on behalf of the sector to raise awareness of how the current crisis is affecting communities, Australian NGOs and their local partners. These examples could include how fuel and fertiliser shortages are contributing to, or worsening, current food insecurity, how increased costs of basic goods and services are leading to negative coping mechanisms, and/or how increased operational costs are resulting in reduced reach/support.

Please send these examples by email (and any questions) to Imogen –[email protected] or Lanni – [email protected] by the 11th June.
