The Weekly
Marc Purcell, what is at the top of your mind this week?
This week, the ACFID Workforce Snapshot was released, marking a significant moment for our sector. The report provides essential insights for organizations in Australia’s international development space, helping them measure practices against industry standards, understand current trends, and make informed strategic decisions.
The snapshot covers key areas such as remuneration, diversity, and organizational structures, providing critical data to align HR practices with best practices. It also highlights compensation variations across regions, genders, and organizational sizes, which helps address disparities and enhance global competitiveness. Its focus on gender and racial diversity is particularly useful for evaluating and improving policies to achieve greater equity and inclusion. Overall, the ACFID Workforce Snapshot is a vital tool for creating a more equitable, effective, and motivated workforce, and serves as an invaluable resource for leaders dedicated to making well-informed decisions.Â
Additionally, this week, ACFID acknowledged the exceptional contributions and accomplishments of our Business Director, Nicola Gleeson, who departs from her role today. We extend our gratitude for her invaluable work and wish her continued success in all her future endeavours.

Where:Â ACFID House, 14 Napier Close, Deakin (Canberra)
Please join ACFID for afternoon tea to launch the new We are the Rainbow framework with Many Coloured Sky Executive Director, Ian Seal.
Many Coloured Sky is the queer development agency, supporting LGBTQIA+ organisations across developing countries with capacity building, planning and project development. They empower those at the margins and intersections of LGBTQIA+ communities to participate fully and equally. Many Coloured Sky has projects across the Asia Pacific region, in Kenya, and via anonymous partners in Uganda. Â
ACFID is joining forces with Many Coloured Sky to launch the ‘We are the Rainbow’ framework at ACFID House in August and Australian Parliament House in September. This framework seeks to support LGBTQIA+ organisations to work with LGBTQIA+ children and youth in ways that protect their rights as children and as LGBTQIA+ people. The framework has been developed via consultation with region-wide LGBTQIA+ peaks, international child protection agencies, and development organisations.

ACFID Perceptions Survey for 2023-24
ACFID will be sending out invitations to participate in our FY2023-24 Perceptions Survey over the next few days. Many thanks to everyone in advance who participates.
ACFID’s annual Perceptions Survey collects data on how our members (and external partners like DFAT) perceive the effectiveness of ACFID’s work in general, and on several specific pieces of work that have been undertaken throughout the year. It is a key tool for ACFID to measure our performance through the eyes of our external stakeholders and is used for both ACFID reporting purposes and also to improve the quality and effectiveness of our work.
We have shortened this survey in comparison to last year’s Perceptions Survey. However, we appreciate that completing the survey is an impost on your time and are grateful for your assistance.
Please contact:Â [email protected]Â if you would like additional information.
