The Weekly

Matthew Maury, what is at the top of your mind this week?

This week, the ACFID team is in Sydney and Melbourne for Safer World for All campaign workshops, bringing together members and partners to discuss the future plans for our sector’s main campaign for the support of Australian development assistance. With political winds of change blowing across the country, this campaign is incredibly important for all ACFID members to help support. If you are not already involved – please reach out to Naomi for more information.

Last week, I was pleased to join an event that ACFID member Opportunity International hosted with partners from Indonesia, a webinar for “Advancing Disability-Inclusive and Gender-Responsive Finance”. The event explored practical approaches to strengthening financial inclusion for women and people with disabilities including innovations developed in Indonesia. If you missed the event, you can access the recording here.

Even as a peace deal seems to be finally agreed, the impacts of the Middle East conflict continue to be felt across affected communities and humanitarian operations, ACFID is inviting members to join an upcoming call to share experiences, discuss operational impacts, and identify priorities for collective advocacy and engagement. We encourage members with relevant programs and partnerships to participate. Registration details are included below.

Finally, I am pleased to see the ACFID Cambodia Community of Practice being reactivated in the second half of 2026. We encourage members working in Cambodia to join the Community and help strengthen collaboration, learning and coordination across our membership.
