The Weekly

Marc Purcell, what is at the top of your mind this week?

It is with great sadness that we share with our members the passing of Dr Sue Anne Wallace AM.

Sue-Anne dedicated her life’s work to the non-profit sector, with much of the last 14 years to focusing on improving our organisations’ collective governance, complaints handling, standards and accountability.

Many members will remember Sue-Anne as Chair of the ACFID Code of Conduct Committee from 2010 – 2015, and a member of the Committee in 2005. She was also CEO of the Fundraising Institute of Australia 2004-2009. More recently, Sue-Anne has Convened the expert panel of complaints handling by charities and acted as Vice-President of the Humanitarian Quality Assurance Initiative, which ensures accountability for the Core Humanitarian Standard, until the end of last year.

We greatly valued Sue Anne’s judgement and insight into charity accountability to the public we serve. Sue-Anne was a true champion of our sector’s values, a huge supporter of the work of ACFID and our members, and a lifelong friend to all she encountered in the non-profit community. ACFID’s work has benefited greatly over the years from Sue-Anne’s wisdom and perseverance, and we are greatly indebted to the generous way she gave of her time and talents for many years since leaving the Chair role. She will be truly missed.
