The Weekly
Emily Moreton, what is at the top of your mind this week?
The ACFID team is proud of the success of the 2024 ACFID Conference, and we extend our gratitude to all delegates who attended.
This year’s conference focused on the theme ‘Solidarity and Resilience: The Power of the Collective.’ Key discussions underscored Australia’s role in advancing climate justice, with speakers advocating for leadership that goes beyond financial contributions, especially in support of Pacific Island nations. Emphasis was placed on community-driven leadership through solidarity, calling for the empowerment of local voices and the prioritisation of grassroots movements. Additionally, the need to balance geopolitical interests with local needs in international development was a central theme. The conference offered an invaluable space for reflection on how development organisations can foster authentic partnerships and ensure their efforts align with local priorities, ultimately working toward a more just and equitable world.
We will soon be sharing a wrap-up of the conference, along with photographs from the event.
