Oct 23, 2024 | Media Releases

The Australian Council for International Development (ACFID) is excited to announce the appointment of Matthew Maury as new Interim CEO. With over 15 years of leadership at Tearfund and a strong background in international development and advocacy, Matthew brings invaluable expertise to ACFID.

Matthew has been a Vice President of ACFID and is the Founding Chair of the Emergency Action Alliance.

This interim leadership will guide ACFID over the coming months while the organisation undertakes an Executive search for a permanent CEO. The Board is committed to finding a candidate who will build upon ACFID’s strong foundation and drive its mission forward.

Susan Pascoe AM, President of ACFID, said, “We are excited to welcome Matthew as our Interim CEO. His extensive experience in international development and advocacy will be invaluable as we navigate this transitional period.”

“We are delighted that, after a selection process with some very strong candidates Matthew will be ACFID’s Interim CEO. Matthew served on the ACFID Board for a decade and co-led our Development Practice Committee during the DFAT review of the Australian NGO Cooperation Program.

Matthew’s campaigning experience, having served on the Board of Micah, will greatly assist members in driving the Safer World for All campaign. He has been an exceptional collaborator in the humanitarian space, having chaired the Emergency Action Alliance for the past five years.”

ACFID looks forward to Matthew’s leadership in the coming months as it continues to champion international development and foster collaboration among Australian humanitarian agencies.
