We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and committed person to fill the role of First Peoples Program Policy and Advocacy Lead.

The RoleĀ
This position sits within the Programs Section. It leads and manages Oxfam Australia’s advocacy on First Peoples’ rights, including the development and implementation of advocacy strategies; the development, analysis and review of policy; the management of key stakeholder relationships and the coordination of identifies campaigns.
A key foundation of this role is Oxfam’s commitment to support and work with First Peoples leaders, organisations and communities to advocate for the self-determination of Australia’s First Peoples.

A little about you (the key selection criteria)
To be successful in this role you will have:
- High level understanding of human rights, with a particular focus on the rights of First Peoples and issues affecting First Peoples.
- Experience working in and building coalition or alliances.
- Demonstrated experience of working effectively with First Peoples communities, organisations and individuals.
- Comprehensive understanding and experience of using advocacy strategies to bring about change.
- Experience influencing and building relationships with a range of decision-makers and key stakeholders.
- Experience in research and policy development.
