Internships

Many ACFID Member organisations offer internship opportunities to students and recent graduates, to help build their capacity and experience in the sector.

Below is a selection of these opportunities. However, you’re also encouraged to visit the individual websites of other ACFID Members to see whether they’re offering internships at this time.

Oxfam International Youth Partnerships (OIYP)

Internship placements at Oxfam Australia are a fantastic opportunity for students to gain valuable experience in the sector while gaining accreditation towards the completion of relevant studies. Please note their internships are reserved for students enrolled in Australian universities only. Internships are a three-way formal agreement between Oxfam Australia, the tertiary institution and the student. They are unpaid placements and can be taken up by students at any time throughout the year.

Volunteer

Many ACFID Members welcome volunteers to undertake fundraising, education and advocacy work in Australia. A number of members also rely on the generosity of Australian volunteers to assist in their implementation of programs overseas.

Below is a list of some of the larger overseas volunteer programs administered by ACFID Members. Contact ACFID Members directly to find out what specific skills they are looking for in volunteers.

If you are considering volunteering overseas, visit the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Smartraveller site and read the SmartVolunteering advice on being an informed, child-safe and prepared volunteer.

Other volunteering opportunities

The Australian Government also runs its own official volunteer program:
Australian Volunteers

The UNV Online Volunteering service is a free service that puts volunteers into contact with organizations worldwide to work together for peace and development – over the Internet. Online volunteers can support your activities in many ways. They can research information, design websites, translate publications, provide expert advice, and much more.
