ACFID is proud to be hosting 23 Concurrent Sessions at its National Conference in October.

Delegates will have the chance to explore resilience in action through a range of case studies, panel discussions and roundtables; and to hear lessons learnt and calls to action for solidarity with networks and movements around the world.

For delegates joining virtually, you will hear from speakers with a wealth of experience and knowledge in finance systems, rights and governance, LGBTQIA+ rights, environmental protection and financial inclusion. Our face to face delegates will engage with speakers from government, disability networks, climate activism, women’s rights movements, student activists and a broad range of ACFID members and their partners.

There will be a strong focus on climate action throughout the sessions, including:

  • Strengthening Climate Resilience through Anticipatory Action, hosted by OXFAM
  • Enhancing Resilience of Coastal Communities, hosted by Caritas Australia and partners from Southeast Asia
  • Feminist Movements Mobilising for Global Climate Justice with speakers from Shifting the Power Coalition, the Feminist Humanitarian Network and ActionAid Australia
  • Powering Solidarity: What is Australia’s role in a global just energy transition with OXFAM, ActionAid, Jubilee Australia and Seed Mob

Delegates will have the opportunity for greater engagement, discussion and collaboration on Thursday 24 October, with workshops including:

  • The Future is Locally Led: A participatory design sprint for a bold new future, hosted by ACFID’s Locally Led Action Community of Practice and the Development Practice Committee
  • Policy ideas for Australia to promote compliance with international humanitarian law and protection of civilians led by The Asia-Pacific Development, Diplomacy and Defence Dialogue (AP4D)
