Good Neighbours Australia is seeking an experienced International Development Expert to join its Board in a voluntary capacity. This appointed board member role, as outlined in our constitution, provides valuable insights and contributions to the organisation’s strategic direction. About Good Neighbours Australia Good Neighbours Australia is part of the Global Good Neighbours Partnership, which supports approximately 7 million people annually, including 218,335 sponsored children across 51 countries. Our mission is to assist those affected by poverty, disasters, and oppression, empowering communities to achieve self-reliance and rebuild hope.
Our development programs focus on:
● Education
● Health and nutrition
● Water and sanitation
● Income Generations
● Emergency aid and disaster response
Since its launch in 2018, Good Neighbours Australia has actively contributed to international programs and relief efforts while also addressing local needs within Australia and neighbouring countries in Asia. Board Commitment The Board meets four times a year (quarterly) with the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in December. The appointed board member is expected to actively contribute to these meetings and provide advisory support when required.
Selection Criteria
We are seeking a candidate with:
● Senior-level experience in international development practice, preferably in the Australian context.
● Experience working at a senior level with an Australian international development organisation (highly valued).
● Commitment to participatory values and principles in medium to long-term international development.
● Availability to attend and contribute to four board meetings annually, one AGM, and provide occasional advisory support.
● Relevant qualifications in international development or a related field.
