This is an exciting opportunity to work with the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID), the peak body representing Australia’s international humanitarian and development NGOs.

ACFID is seeking to hire a Policy and Partnerships Lead for an immediate start. This role is a senior member of the Policy and Advocacy Team and is responsible for developing ACFID’s positions on international development policy in line with ACFID’s Advocacy Agenda and Strategic Plan. In close coordination with the Chief of Policy and Advocacy, the position works within the team to ensure that ACFID is positioned to engage in current policy debates including around DFAT’s new International Development Policy, as well as to foresee and predict new areas of policy that meet ACFID’s strategic aims and those of our members. A key responsibility of the Lead is to manage ACFID’s Grant Agreement and formal Partnership with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The successful applicant will be a motivated and experienced policy and programs professional. They will have strong management skills, a can-do attitude, and the ability to take initiative and be flexible in a fast-paced and changing environment. This role will need to be based in Canberra in order to engage with the Government, DFAT and other important stakeholders.

What we can offer you

  • A competitive salary with an additional 12% superannuation. Under current taxation laws, up to $15,900 of the base salary may be taken as a tax-free fringe benefit. Dependent on your financial circumstances, this may result in an increase in your take-home pay. Applicants will be shortlisted and invited to interview. Interviews can be conducted remotely if required, though the successful candidate must be available to commence as soon as possible and be based in Canberra or willing to relocate.

ACFID’s preference is for the role to be 1 FTE but actual working hours can be negotiated based on the successful applicant’s preference and experience.
