And they are on a mission to break down the barriers so young women and girls can access quality education, in and out of the classroom.

They do this by running girl-led programs in Sierra Leone to drive positive change for girls and their communities. Because when you educate a girl, everything changes.

The Role
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Fundraising & Campaigns Director shapes and drives One Girl’s strategic direction in fundraising and campaigning. This role is accountable for the design, delivery, resourcing, and evaluation of all fundraising and campaign strategies, ensuring sustainable growth, strong donor stewardship, and effective budget management. It also plays a key role in protecting and amplifying the One Girl brand and voice.

The Director leads and inspires the fundraising team, fostering a collaborative and accountable culture that empowers them to deliver successful campaigns and initiatives.

This position is central to advancing One Girl’s mission: harnessing the power of education to create lasting change for girls and their communities.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Fundraising Strategy & Growth

  • Lead the development and implementation of One Girl’s fundraising growth strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational values.
  • Oversee all fundraising activities, driving sustainable revenue growth.
  • Deliver and manage the annual fundraising budget.
  • Diversify income streams through appeals, campaigns, major donors, individual giving, and regular giving.

Donor & Partnerships Management

  • Cultivate, secure, and steward long-term partnerships with major donors, trusts, and foundations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships to ensure meaningful engagement and impact.

Communications & Brand

  • Develop and implement One Girl’s communications strategy, integrated with fundraising objectives.
  • Uphold, protect, and amplify the One Girl brand and voice across all platforms.

Team Leadership & Culture

  • Lead, manage, and develop the fundraising team (including volunteers, where relevant).
  • Provide clear direction, planning, and reporting to ensure goals are met.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, empowerment, collaboration, and solution-focused problem solving.
  • Global Collaboration.
  • Work closely with the Sierra Leone team to ensure program activities are effectively shared, understood, and communicated to stakeholders.

Operations & Systems

  • Oversee all fundraising operations, including CRM management, payment gateways, website, and social media platforms.

About You

Required Skills and Proficiencies

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant field (Fundraising, Marketing etc.) In the absence of a degree, extensive professional experience and proven results in the not-for-profit sector.
  • Minimum 5 years demonstrated experience leading the development and implementation of successful fundraising strategies and achieving key performance targets.
  • A proven track record developing & meeting fundraising budgets.
  • Demonstrated success leading multi-skilled teams with significant income goals and delivering outstanding digital fundraising.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to negotiate, be persuasive, develop trust and maintain flourishing working relationships.
  • Experience building and maintaining successful donor relationships and partnerships – e.g. foundations, philanthropies, corporate businesses and major donors.
