The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity is now available for a Business Development and Funding Partnerships Manager to join Burnet!
In this role you will support researchers and teams in generating new business and supporting their partnership activities across Public Health and International Development research areas. A primary responsibility of this position is to support all three of Burnets core research programs (Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health; Health Security and Pandemic Preparedness; and Disease Elimination) and teams which have a funding and partnership focus on bilateral (i.e. DFAT), multilateral (i.e. World Bank), and UN organisations (WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA).
You will also support partnership development across institutional strategic initiatives, identifying and developing partnerships with potential research and implementation partners, and supporting business development and strategic opportunities across our country (PNG, Myanmar) and international programs.
Some of your other duties will include:
- Working with the Executive General Manager of Business Development and Funding Partnerships to develop and maintain key partnerships with Programs, internal teams and external stakeholders
- Manage identification, evaluation and development of new activities across the Public Health and International Development programs
- Representing Burnet Institute in various funder meetings and forums – with ability to discuss the breadth of whole of institute activities
- Undertaking Due Diligence assessments of new partners within a risk management framework
- Support contract review and negotiations for successful ‘new business’ activities
This is a full-time position, but part time arrangements will also be considered. You will have flexible working hours as well as part time working from home options. This role will require some domestic and international travel. Refer to the attached position description for full details.
Let’s talk about you
The following criteria are essential requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant area
- Experience in preparation of proposals for DFAT and other international funders;
- Understanding of Global Health landscape (funders, networks, priorities)
- Knowledge and experience of business development within an academic environment
- Demonstrated skills in building internal and external networks in relation to Public Health and International Development
- Ability to prioritise and manage multiple assignments, and work efficiently
- High level of interpersonal communication including the ability to consult with senior executives, external bodies, and negotiate agreed directions, outcomes, and targets
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; organisational, and document management skills
