Forest value Enhancement Project (FoVEP):
One of our standout initiatives, the FoVEP Project, is part of a broader program addressing land access and investment challenges in the Solomon Islands, a country brimming with tourism potential. FoVEP’s goal is to unlock sustainable benefits from the Solomon Islands’ rich forest resources. Together with our local partners, NRDF and Live & Learn Solomon Islands, we are dedicated to making this vision a reality. This consultancy will be dedicated to executing critical project audit tasks, ensuring thorough and accurate financial reviews. Additionally, the consultant will provide comprehensive support to the team, guiding them through intricate audit requirements and compliance standards. The audit process is anticipated to span up to three months, with a targeted completion date of 31st October 2024.
Scope of Work
The Finance and Audit Consultant is required to complete various activities in order to assist in completing the FoVEP Project Audit:
Finance and Administration:
- Convert all project-related transactions from local currencies to USD for the period from 20 May 2022 to 30 June 2024. Ensure accuracy and consistency in conversion rates for all project partners.
- Reconcile all funds and expenses to the project bank account balance monthly from 20 May 2022 to 30 June 2024. Identify and account for any unrelated transactions to maintain financial integrity.
- Prepare the Fund Accountability Statement in strict accordance with donor guidelines. Include all necessary notes and disclosures to provide a comprehensive financial overview for project partners.
- Engage with local Solomon Islands-based partners to gather required information and documentation. Ensure effective communication and collaboration to fulfil the scope of work efficiently.
- Consult with the Live & Learn Environmental Education National Support Office (LLEE NSO) and the project auditor as needed. Facilitate smooth coordination and address any queries or concerns promptly.
- Provide all necessary documents required for the audit. Work closely with local teams to ensure timely and accurate submission of audit-related materials.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- CPA or CA designation is an advantage but not required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Finance and Audit consulting.
Skill and Competencies:
- Strong analytical abilities to meticulously examine financial records, identify discrepancies and understand complex systems and transaction.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey findings and analysis clearly and concisely. Abilitiy to engage with country offices and partners effectively.
- Familiarity with microsoft software and financial tools to easily navigate audit requirements.
