We are currently hiringĀ an experience project accountant, based in Melbourne, who can help our team in end-to-end financial accounting for grants and government funding.

You are ideal for this role if:

  • You hold tertiary qualifications in accounting or finance. A CA or CPA is advantageous.
  • You have a minimum of 5 years of experience in similar roles, preferably in a not-for-profit environment.
  • You possess in-depth knowledge of accounting processes and techniques, with experience using systems like MYOB.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • You have a keen eye for detail and accuracy, with a strong understanding of reconciliation.
  • You are an Australian citizen or permanent resident.

WHAT WOULD YOU IN A DAILY BASIS:

In this pivotal role, you will oversee the end-to-end financial accounting for our grants and government funding activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial management and reporting. Your key responsibilities will include:

End-to-End Financial Accounting for Grants:

  • Manage financial reports for the organization’s grants across multiple currencies.
  • Maintain accounting systems, process journals, generate variance reports, complete reconciliations, manage project fixed assets, and prepare project P&L statements and balance sheets.

Cash Flow Forecasting and Budget Preparation:

  • Prepare accurate cash flow forecasts and project budgets.
  • Develop partnership agreements, ensuring alignment with financial goals and donor requirements.

Project Budget Analysis and Reporting:

  • Provide detailed analysis of project budgets.
  • Generate periodic and ad-hoc reports, offering financial and non-financial insights to project managers, senior management, and donors.

Audit Management and Coordination:

  • Manage both internal and external audits.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation and coordination with network offices to meet audit requirements.

Compliance and Policy Development:

  • Ensure compliance with donor reporting requirements.
  • Regularly review and update organizational policies and procedures to drive efficiency and enhance financial processes.
