Parramatta Electorate Forum on building a Safer World for All; support for Australian Aid

Mar 5, 2025 | Media Releases

The Safer World for All campaign is joining with Caritas Australia, UnitingWorld, ActionAid Australia, Union Aid Abroad APHEDA, Islamic Relief Australia, ChildFund Australia & Habitat for Humanity to host an electorate forum in the federal seat of Parramatta, currently held by Australian Labor Party MP Mr. Andrew Charlton.

Mr Andrew Charlton MP will be joining us alongside Australian Greens candidate Liz Tilly. The Liberal Party candidate, Katie Mullens, is unavailable to attend.

Candidates will share their party position on international development ahead of the federal election.

Quotes attributable to Kate Lee, Executive Director of UnionAid Abroad APHEDA, on behalf of the Safer World for All campaign:

“It is a critical time to reflect on and discuss the importance of Australian Aid and show candidates that Australians care about our investment in crises and development overseas.”

“Currently at 0.68% of the federal budget, a restoration to previous levels of 1% is modest, but will make a huge difference to the region and to the world’s most vulnerable.”

“Given the unprecedented challenges in Ukraine, Sudan, Palestine, Lebanon and beyond, now is an opportunity for Australia to invest in a safer world”
