With over 450 humanitarian workers tragically killed since the start of last year, it is imperative that world leaders do not ignore this crisis. The international community must stand united in protecting those who risk their lives to aid others.

Humanitarian workers are being wrongfully and unlawfully targeted, with perpetrators often not held accountable for these grave violations.

All states have an obligation to ensure that humanitarian workers can deliver lifesaving aid safely. Failure to protect these workers puts more lives at risk. More than 300 million people will need humanitarian aid this year alone, yet over 80% of humanitarian needs are not being met. Without the ability to safely deliver food, clean water, and medicine, those trapped in conflict zones will face increased threats of famine and disease.
