Location Details

It is fitting to celebrate 75 years of service by returning to the birthplace of ALWS… Bonegilla Migrant Experience. Here, you’ll experience the history of World War 2 refugees who arrived in Australia seeking a better future, and then have the opportunity to retrace part of their journey as we step out along the picturesque rail trail towards the old Bonegilla Rail Station. Together we’ll extend ALWS’ legacy of love and care by changing the future for 75,000 vulnerable children impacted by conflict and poverty.

Community Hub

Before and after your walk, you can enjoy the Community Hub… there will be something for the whole family.

  • Coffee van and food stalls
  • Kids activities
  • Live stage – performers and presentations
  • Optional Guided Tours of Bonegilla Migrant Experience ($11 per person)

‘Step out to help a child Step Up!

Funds raised through this event will support vulnerable children impacted by poverty and war – Somalia, South Sudan, Kenya, Burundi, Bangladesh, Nepal and Ukraine.
Just $25 can change the future for a vulnerable child.
For example:
–    $25 can provide a school kit for a refugee child in Kakuma refugee camp, Kenya.
–    $25 can provide 5kg of maize seeds to four families in Burundi so they can provide food for their children.
–    $25 can provide a hygiene kit for a young child in South Sudan.
–    $25 can provide clean drinking water for a month for a child impacted by war in Ukraine.
–    $25 can provide emergency food assistance for school children in Bangladesh.
–    $25 can provide school kits for children affected by floods in Nepal.
–    $25 can provide one month’s porridge ration for a family in Somalia.
Join us on Saturday 22 March as we step out so that a child can step up!
