Course Overview
This course is for anyone working in the development sector. It can be used as introductory training or as a refresher course.
‘Introduction to Safeguarding’ will help you:
- Understand what is meant by ‘safeguarding’ and why it is important.
- Apply key terms, definitions and expectations related to safeguarding.
- Explore the relationship between vulnerability, power imbalance and gender inequity.
- Develop your ability to recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns.
Safeguarding and your organisation
This course has been developed by the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID) and is not specific to your organisation.
Along with this course, your organisation should also help you with:
- Who in your organisation to contact about safeguarding and how to reach them.
- Where you can find your organisation’s safeguarding policies and documented procedures, including reporting mechanisms.
- How to access more training and other resources.
