Are you passionate about human rights and international development?  Do you believe in the impact of community mobilisation for political impact?

This is an exciting opportunity to work with the Public Engagement Campaign Committee (PECC) of the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID), the peak body representing Australia’s international humanitarian and development NGOs. The current campaign of the PECC is the Safer World for All campaign.

About Safer World for All

Safer World for All is a joint initiative between ACFID’s Public Engagement Campaign Committee (PECC) and Micah Australia. The PECC is a subset of the ACFID membership which contribute to sector wide campaigning.

The goal of the campaign is to restore Australia’s aid program to 1% of the Federal Budget and protect against any moves to cut, by building enduring public and political support for international development. We do this by engaging politicians through mobilising a variety of communities which are passionate about Australia’s role in the world. This will include electorate based political engagement, community forums, digital campaigning, media engagement and direct political advocacy at Parliament.

The PECC is led by three co-chairs, including from two member agencies, who will be the selection panel for the role.

TheRole

ACFID’s PECC is seeking to hire a Public Engagement Campaigner for an immediate start. Working in partnership with PECC members and Micah, the role will be responsible for driving community organising, event management and digital campaigning   for the Safer World for All campaign in line with the 2026 campaign strategy and workplan.  The role will report to the PECC leadership team under the contractual management of ACFID.

We’re looking for a dynamic Campaign Coordinator to help drive the SWFA campaign strategy and engage communities across Australia. In this role, you’ll work closely with NGO members, youth, and diaspora groups to deliver impactful events, mobilisations, and digital tactics. You’ll coordinate community engagement, support campaign leadership with secretariat functions, and monitor outcomes to ensure success. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years’ experience in campaigning or community organising, strong communication and organisational skills, and a passion for mobilising diverse audiences. Domestic travel may be required.

Please see the position description for further information on the selection criteria.

What we can offer you

  • A competitive salary with an additional 12% superannuation. Under current taxation laws, up to $15,900 of the base salary may be taken as a tax-free fringe benefit. Dependent on your financial circumstances, this may result in an increase in your take-home pay. In addition, ACFID’s PBI status enables you to salary package a further approximate $2,650 per year for personal meals and accommodation on top of the normal salary packaging amount. *You can find more information about Salary Packaging here: https://www.cbb.com.au/discover-salary-packaging/
  • Generous leave and employee conditions, including a flexible working environment.
  • PECC is unincorporated and ACFID provides legal employment coverage for all staff.   The ACFID terms and conditions apply to all PECC employed staff.
