National Conference 2015

Discussions and references to innovation have become pervasive across the international development sector over recent years. ACFID’s conference set out to explore the role of innovation in sustainable development; how other sectors innovate and what can be learnt for them; and what innovation currently looks like for the Australian aid and development sector and how it can tailored, focused and enhanced.
This year’s conference also acted as a follow-on from ACFID discussions throughout the year on disruptive change and what it means for development NGOs in the future. These discussions have made it clear that NGOs need new ways of working to respond to emerging development issues and the changing landscape for the aid and development sector and that innovation has a role to play in this.
